Abstract: Much of what we know about process data was learned in a world that no longer exists. Drawing on a decade of research using response times, clickstreams, and sequential models, this keynote asks which of those lessons carry forward into AI-mediated assessment and which need rebuilding. Two shifts drive the question: process data is becoming linguistic, as dialogue and text reveal intent rather than merely behavior, and the solver is becoming a human–AI dyad rather than an individual. I will offer a tentative agenda for the transition, covering how we might instrument tasks for dialogue and treat the comparability of pre- and post-AI process data as an empirical question we can actually test.
